Sr. Graphic Designer and Photographer, M.I. Brand Group,
LOUD Technologies Inc; Woodinville, WA • 2002 – 2008

I started at LOUD Technologies Inc. (then known as Mackie Designs Inc.) as a Graphics Designer and created a large assortment of print materials including point of sale items and displays, sell sheets, trade show booth graphics, signage, product packaging, flyers, handouts, catalogs and more. I made motion graphics for web banner ads and trade show presentations and 3D renderings of trade show properties to aid in booth design and visualization. My responsibilities grew to include post-processing of files for delivery to magazine and print vendors. This included file formatting, color correction, re-sizing for different print publications, and making sure files complied with vendor specifications. I then took over the job of product photography, image correction and touch-up. This includes taking digital product photography in-house, and scanning of film taken at remote photo shoots, editing, color-correcting, masking and posting to our internal network. I was also the archivist for the Marketing department, maintaining the department’s backup assets on CD and DVD and running a separate marketing specific Macintosh sever. I have also became the departments “go-to guy” when troubleshooting was needed for our in-house printers, plotters, and Macintosh computer hardware.

Creative Design Manager, Digital Harmony Inc.; Seattle, WA • 2000 – 2001

Responsible for all design and layout of printed collateral. This included signage for trade shows, in-house events, and traveling shows. I created graphics and layouts for slideshow presentation used for trade show, convention presentations, and by salespersons and corporate fund-raising. The layout and graphics creation for all sales handouts, product datasheets, technology app notes, and flyers were my responsibility. I also produced technical illustrations for setup documents used for prototypes and other deliverables. During my stay at Digital Harmony I also designed the postcard and poster graphics for the AES 18th International Conference on Audio for Information Appliances.

Art Director, Symetrix Inc./Lucid Technologies; Seattle, WA • 1976-2000

During my 24 years of employment at Symetrix Inc./Lucid Technology, I held positions in almost every facet of the production and marketing of Pro-audio equipment. The last position I held at Symetrix Inc/Lucid Technology was that of Art Director and Webmaster. In this position I created all technical illustrations and 3D product renderings used on the corporate websites and in owners’ and service manuals, product bulletins, application notes, datasheets, brochures, trade show displays, and advertising. I created preliminary conceptualizing and design of mock-ups (for product proposals), and product renderings for prototype visualization. The use of 3D renderings eliminated all use of photography for product shots used in all print media. I was also responsible for the creation and maintenance of the two corporate websites, including graphics creation and content layout. Electronic versions of all owners’ manuals and graphic files were used in the creation of Media Archives, Product Resource, and Program Software CDs for use by company sales staff, dealers, and representatives. In the early years of the company I worked on the production floor. I silk-screened, etched, drilled, and soldered components to PCBs. I assembled and silk-screened the chassis. I did the final mechanical assembly and pretest of the finished product. This experience gave me the knowledge that was later useful in making metalwork designs that were easy to build and would streamline the production process. I became the head of Inventory, responsible for maintaining and issuing parts inventory and bills of material. This included receiving, evaluating (quality control), counting, and database management. Next I was VP of CADD Services. In this position I was responsible for all metal work design, part specification drawings, and production illustrations for all products. This included fabrication drawings for the metalwork, front and rear panel artwork, assembly drawings, and assembly procedure guidebooks for over 60 different products.
